Am I the only one that feels like tales fo mystic artes have lost their... Oomph? Like, they are so short and less intense as they used to be. They even ruined jude's MA and made it have a less intense ending.
Longer MA doesn't mean a good MA, just look at symphonia. And man, to be perfectly honest, only Destiny DC and Rebirth had those awesome mystic artes that you speak about. Not even vesperia, symphonia (especially symphonia...) and abyss had, only a few MAs were actually good. And Jude's MA is much better in this game. Though I didn't really like Milla's tbh.

We had awesome MAs that were rather short (although it depends if other will think the same) like Woodrow/Garr's Resshou Souhajin (his first MA). I will be honest and say that there were some MAs in zest that I liked, like Bolt Tempest (i really don't know why I like that one, i just do), Lailah's second one, Shooting Stars and Azure Apocalypse. About favorites, its funny in my case. My favorite is Graces f, but i have more play time in Vesperia (love this one too), like, of all tales I played, this is the one with the longest play time by a long shot, but at first, it was Xillia 1, because it was my first, then it was Xillia 2. After all this I decided it would be Graces f. The reason being that, regardless of the problems it has, I had the most fun playing it than the others (not that the others are bad, I love them actually). I think that the best one is the one you have the most fun with. Oh yeah, I love abyss too, downloaded it recently on my pc to play and I'm having a blast with it, awesome story imo.
I don't get the hate the newer mystic artes get. My first Tales game was Xillia and I liked those mystic artes. I think that Graces f and this game have the best mystic artes in the games. Then again I've only played Vesperia through Zestiria and I'm not really sure if I'll pre order Berseria, unless the Legacy outfits are pre order only like Zestiria. It's mostly because compared to the older versions like Abyss or Symphonia, or even the earlier ones like Phantasia, most of them were slower, but they had a more powerful impact. We get to see most of the characters, like prepare themselves as they prepared their ultimate attacks. It gives off a sense of power and achievement when you could pull them off. Compared to most of the recent ones, where it just comes and goes so fast, that it doesn't give off the same types of feeling of power the older versions give.
Go look up a Hi-Ougi compilation video for Eternia (the first game with 'actual' Hi-Ougis), or even the PS2 remake of Destiny and it's sequel Destiny 2 and compare for yourself.

Kougeru Everything. The 2d cut ins have fewer movements and effects to them and the 3d animations for the mystic artes themselves just look stiff and rushed when you put them next to Zestiria and Xillia's animations. That, and the motions everyone's bodies make don't look powerful per say. A lot of strikes have antagonistic movements to them elsewhere in the body. Did they get a new 3D animator or something? Jeez.
